SENIOR THESIS:

Title: A Series of Editorial Illustrations about the ongoing Housing Inequalities in the United States

Advisor: Professor Robert Young

Description: My senior thesis at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design focused on illustrating articles that best described various aspects of housing issues that I’ve seen or researched about and challenged myself to illustrate these articles. I’m participating in a conversation that I would otherwise watch from afar through my artwork and exploring how I can turn my creativity into a body of work to bring awareness to issues that I care about.

Artist Talk for Nodus Tollens, CORE Gallery, Instagram, 2020

Nodus Tollens was my first virtual solo exhibition and the first solo exhibition presented by the college’s student-led gallery, CORE. This artist talk focuses on how I curated and created pieces around the idea of nodus tollens n. the realization that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore—that although you thought you were following the arc of the story, you keep finding yourself immersed in passages you don’t understand, that don’t even seem to belong in the same genre—which requires you to go back and reread the chapters you had originally skimmed to get to the good parts, only to learn that all along you were supposed to choose your own adventure.

Ruptura auténtica pop-up exhibition highlights 6 Latinx PCA&D artists

An interview I did to promote my first pop-up exhibition, Ruptura auténtica.

The annual Hispanic Festival at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church is a vibrant 37-year tradition, a celebration of culture and music and food and heritage — and all the ways they tie together into something inseparable.

This year, a pop-up exhibition by PCA&D, Ruptura auténtica, adds art to that mix.

Curated by Delaina Jolly ’22, Illustration, Ruptura auténtica brings the work of six emerging Latinx artists before a wider audience. Over three days, the art of Yamilet Orengo ‘22, Jonatan Perez ’23, Tiffany Rodriguez ‘19, Jasmyn Stokes ‘23, Daniel Valle ‘24, and Jolley will be on display, exploring concepts of sorrow, anxiety, serenity, relationships, and identity.
